Nutrition Society of Bangldesh

Nutrition Society of Bangladesh is a non-political but voluntary professional organization where the Nutrition Scientists, Nutrition Workers, Sociologists, Economics, Anthropologists and Opinion Leaders work together to achieve their common aims to help improve the physical quality of the human resources, the best assets of Bangladesh. Nutrition Society of Bangladesh (NSB) was established in March 26, 1971. Since then till date, NSB continuously supported to the National and International nutrition movement all over.

Aims & Objectives

Generally, the objectives of the Society shall be to help realize the potential of the human resources in Bangladesh now victims of severe malnutrition and consequent morbidity and poor physical quality of life, through promotion of better nutrition at family level in the country as a whole. 

Aims and Objectives:

Specifically the objectives of the Society shall be:

  1. To help create awareness on and to advocate the importance of nutrition and the scourge of malnutrition;
  2. To disseminate nutritional knowledge, particularly knowledge which can be made use of at the grass root level through the mass media, folk media, distribution of extension materials, publication of journals and periodicals and through organization of seminars, workshops, meetings,  exhibitions etc.;
  3. To assists in monitoring and surveillance of nutrition situation in the country, especially among the low income groups;
  4. To co-operate with the Government in a continuous review of the national food and nutrition policy;
  5. To make recommendations from time to time, as appropriate for improvement of the nutrition situation of the vulnerable groups with special emphasis on the development of the human resources;
  6. To stimulate research in nutrition through awards, research grants, citations and recommendations;
  7. To facilitate formulation and implementation of programs of nutrition education, specially at the grass root level; and

To take such other measures as are consistent with the aims of the Society and as will facilitate the realization of objectives.
